Orb Membership Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions apply to all members of Orb networking groups.

You are the member, we are Orb Networking (or Orb).

By applying for or accepting membership, you agree to the following.

1. About Orb Membership

Orb exists to help business owners and professionals grow through trusted relationships, referrals, and shared learning.

Membership connects you with a local group of professionals who meet fortnightly to support one another, share opportunities, and build meaningful business relationships.

Membership includes:

  • Participation in a local Orb networking group

  • A member profile in the Orb online directory

  • Opportunities to build referral partnerships with other members

We are committed to creating a supportive, respectful, and productive environment for all members.

Orb is committed to creating a supportive, respectful, and productive environment for all members.

2. Eligibility & Approval

Orb membership is open to credible business owners and professionals who:

  • Have at least 12 months of business or industry experience, or work in or for a business that was registered at least 12 months ago.

  • Agree to conduct their business in a professional and ethical manner that reflects positively on the Orb community.

  • Are willing to contribute positively to the group

Orb may request evidence of industry or business experience if required. All membership applications are subject to approval by Orb.

3. Business Category Exclusivity

Each Orb group operates with one primary member per business category. When joining, you will be assigned an agreed-upon business category representing the primary service you provide.

In some cases, there may be limited overlap between members, provided:

  • Overlap must represent less than 30% of a member’s business revenue

  • Any potential conflicts will be discussed before a new member is accepted

Orb reserves the right to determine category assignments. You will only represent your assigned category.

4. Attendance Expectations

Strong attendance helps build trust and stronger referral relationships.

You are expected to ensure either you or a substitute attends at least two meetings per month, in at least 10 months of the year.

Where attendance is consistently below expectations, we may review the membership and may request you step down.

5. Visitors

You are encouraged to invite suitable visitors who may benefit the group.

Visitors may attend one meeting before deciding whether to apply for membership. Orb reserves the right to approve or decline visitor attendance where appropriate.

6. Referrals & Professional Conduct

Orb is built on trust and professional relationships. You are encouraged to:

  • Support fellow members through referrals and introductions

  • Build genuine professional relationships

  • Refer businesses they trust and believe will deliver quality service

Referrals are encouraged but not guaranteed, and Orb does not promise business outcomes.

You should always act in a way that reflects positively on the group and the wider Orb community.

7. Respectful Behaviour

Orb is a supportive community. You agree to:

  • Communicate respectfully and avoid behaviour that may create a hostile or uncomfortable environment

  • Avoid aggressive sales tactics within meetings

  • Contribute positively to the group culture

You also agree not to:

  • Approach, market to, or solicit business directly from another member’s clients without an introduction or permission

  • Recruit or solicit employees from another member’s business without prior consent.

Behaviour that damages the reputation, culture, or trust within the group may result in review or termination of membership.

8. Cancellation of Membership

The minimum term of this contract is 12 months, unless agree otherwise. Billing will continue after this term unless otherwise notified. 30 days notification to [email protected] is required to cancel membership (after the minimum term).

If a member leaves before the end of their membership term, the remaining membership fees for that term remain payable. No refunds are provided for unused membership time.

9. Non Compete

You are allowed to be a member of more than one networking group, but while you are a member of Orb, and for the following six months you must not compete with Orb by starting, assisting and/or taking employment with a competing organisation.

10. Member Directory & Marketing

Members receive a profile in the Orb online member directory while their membership is active.

Members grant Orb permission to:

  • Display their business profile within the directory

  • Use their business name, logo, and any photos in Orb marketing or promotional materials

Members may request updates or corrections to their profiles at any time. Information members provide must be accurate, correct, and up to date. Members will update Orb of any changes.

Members agree to Orb emailing about the group or business activities and updates. Members give permission for Orb to publish photos and videos of you taken at Orb events across any medium/platform.

11. Confidentiality

Members may share business information, experiences, or opportunities during meetings.

Business information, opportunities, or discussions shared within Orb meetings should be treated as confidential unless permission has been given to share them elsewhere.

12. Expertise of Members

Orb does not endorse the capabilities or expertise of any of its members. Any member who chooses to conduct business with, or refer business to, another member of Orb does so at their own volition and risk. Orb accepts no responsibility for business conducted between its members.

13. Orb’s Right to Refuse, Remove or Terminate Membership

Orb reserves the right to decline, suspend, or terminate membership where a member:

  • Fails to meet attendance expectations, or does not support the group

  • Breaches these terms

  • Behaves in a way that harms the group culture or reputation

  • Fails to meet payment obligations

Where possible, Orb will work with members to resolve concerns before taking action.

14. Continued Respect for Member Relationships

Membership in Orb creates valuable professional relationships.

To maintain trust within the network, members agree that if they leave Orb they will continue to respect the relationships and referral partnerships developed within their group.

Former members agree not to actively recruit or solicit current Orb members to leave their group for the purpose of joining another competing networking organisation or form a competing group for a reasonable period following their departure.

This clause does not prevent normal professional relationships or friendships formed during membership

15. Limitation of Liability

Orb provides a networking environment designed to encourage professional relationships and referrals.

However:

  • Orb does not guarantee business opportunities, referrals, or financial results

  • Members are responsible for their own business dealings with other members or third parties

Orb accepts no liability for business outcomes arising from introductions or referrals made through the network.

16. Changes to These Terms

Orb may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time.
