Our Story

Business networking in New Zealand is flourishing. Could the existing networking model be better? We thought so!

Having experienced networking in various groups, we decided to take the best elements of existing networking groups, and modernise. Creating something that really works for business owners in 2026.

We launched Howick Orb at the end of April. The group has grown in numbers and in strength, already passing significant amounts of business.

The meetings are known for their energy, and the number of referrals and collaborative working has exceeded our expectations. You can get an idea of what we're about below.

Each 90-minute session includes:

* Two member presentations, or extended education/discussion on a chosen topic
* Referral sharing and success stories

If you're an SME owner, founder or local business leader who wants to build stronger relationships, grow your network and create genuine referral opportunities, then Orb is for you.

Orb combines structured business networking with useful learning, open conversation and a supportive community. It is professional, but relaxed, with a focus on trust, quality relationships and practical business growth.

We guarantee a minimum of 18 people in the room, and meetings are fortnightly, so you can maximise your connections and minimise your time commitment.

Yes. We welcome one member per category in each group.
That means you won’t compete with someone offering the same service as you, and you'll be the group's expert in your field.

If your category is already taken, please get in touch and we’ll add you to the waiting list. When a space opens up, you’ll be first to know.

Orb groups meet fortnightly, always 9.30 -11.00 on Tuesdays.

You can trust a referral from an Orb member, knowing there's an experienced business owner behind it! Members must have been operating in their industry for at least 12 months, or be working for a company which has been in business for over a year.

No. Orb is not about forced referrals or pressure-based networking. The focus is on building trust first, and we've found that referrals and introductions happen naturally and genuinely. 

At the moment, prospective members are welcome to register their interest to join by attending the first two meetings (at a cost of $100+GST). This offer is open to people who are serious about joining long term, with the expectation being they will then sign up for a full 12 months.
